Rokh Show Runway Spring Summer 2023 (All Looks)

       It was all down to him believing about the competition that designers feel when they consider the anticipations of their role, as in creating things versus the unreasonable part (this is where the delightful kicks in), as in the hope to express all those suppressed desires and demands to create things which live in the kingdoms of refined creativity, practicality, and functionality. Flicking through the show later there was also some discussion between this rational/irrational thesis and the show’s background design, curved designs of seats at a dance theater close to the Trocadero.

       I didn’t entirely comprehend that later bit about the set. But what I do comprehend is that when Hwang is shooting on all cylinders, he makes intelligent, creative clothes which, rational or irrational, make for great style. By now, if you’ve been following his work at all, you’ll know he values working his way via wardrobe archetypes like the trench, the blazer, and the shirt, converting them in this manner and that with his creative construction experiments.
